Community members are at the heart of collective impact. This article explores tools that a backbone organization, like Prosper Waco, can use to connect community members to more formal positions of power in the initiative. The main way for collective impact initiatives to amplify the voice of the community members is to build on their existing strengths through Asset Based Community Development.
One way Prosper Waco is ensuring the community voice is driving the initiative forward is through the Prosper Waco Community Engagement Council. The council consists of two grassroots community members from East, North and South Waco. The council members host house meetings, which are small, intimate gatherings to connect and engage in conversations with their neighbors and friends. The council also participates in community-wide events to interact with community members from all over and talk about the Prosper Waco initiative.
