Behavioral Health Leadership Team, an initiative of Prosper Waco, was inspired by the power of community collaboration and set out to unite government, nonprofit, and medical leaders to confront the challenges of behavioral health in Waco head-on.

Using the collective impact model, the BHLT fostered collaboration of these leaders to work to address 3 core areas: access to care, crisis response, and policy.

Our Mission

The Waco Behavioral Health Leadership Team will work to ensure that every individual in McLennan County facing moderate to severe behavioral health challenges receives high-quality care by a licensed clinical professional in a timely way, with the goals of:

  • strengthening family well-being and improving workforce productivity

  • reducing individual suffering, emergency department congestion, and crises resulting in law enforcement intervention

  • providing appropriate alternatives to incarceration that protect our community and promote public safety

Our Core Objectives

Access to Care

Review, examine, and make reccomendations to eliminating barriers to accessing high-quality behavioral and physical health care.

Crisis Response

Policy

Assess the existing deficiencies in care, services, and resources, and develop sustainable strategies to address and bridge those gaps.

Supportive Friend

No one entity can tackle mental health challenges alone.

The greater Waco behavioral health system stands at a pivotal moment, recognizing an opportunity for transformation as it navigates the challenges of being overwhelmed and under-resourced. Over the past decade, steady population growth has paved the way for a brighter future, one where access to vital mental health services, programs, and support can flourish. With your support, you can be a catalyst for the systemic change that will empower Wacoans to access the high-quality care they deserve.
