Job Summary
The Director of Behavioral Health Initiatives works with key community partners and stakeholders to develop, coordinate, and execute projects and initiatives which advance community goals in behavioral health. Guided by the common agenda of top shared behavioral health priorities of the Behavioral Health Leadership Team, the director will facilitate the development and execution of a collective plan of action, from pursuing funding to support implementation to project management, data collection and reporting thereof.
Responsibilities
Responsible for leadership and management of assigned projects related to community-wide behavioral health initiatives and activities, partner coordination, work planning, reporting, and communications.
Facilitate and mobilize the Behavioral Health Leadership Team (BHLT) Steering Committee, action teams, and coalitions as they strive to determine and reach community goals in behavioral health.
Assists with budget development and grants administration for behavioral health-related initiatives.
Coordinate, design, and implement strategic approaches that will engage the Waco community in collaborative work for the measurable betterment of behavioral health according to community indicators.
Alongside community partners, develop and implement a proactive and comprehensive strategy for deepening engagement of significant behavioral health partners and anchor institutions toward community goals.
Work collaboratively with Prosper Waco research staff as they collect, analyze, and interpret data for shared measurement. Aid with building partner capacity in data collection and interpretation.
Serve as a Prosper Waco liaison with state and regional behavioral health organizations. Collaborate with each institution to collaborate around strategic initiatives, programs, and accountability.
Provide direction and support to partner organizations, working groups, and coalitions in aligning their work to a common agenda (e.g., integrating evidence-based practices and identifying opportunities for program work to support specific goals).
Collaborate with Prosper Waco communications team to provide information and materials needed to tell the Prosper Waco and community impact stories most effectively.
Experience
Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, behavioral health, public health, social work, social sciences, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in health care administration, behavioral health, public health, or a similar field. Experience working in or with non-profit/community-based organizations preferred.
Proven ability to lead teams and initiatives, inspire and motivate staff, set clear goals and expectations, manage change, and ensure accountability. Proactive self-starter with the initiative to drive work forward independently, anticipating needs and opportunities rather than waiting for direction.
Demonstrated ability to build and sustain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders, including healthcare providers, community organizations, and government agencies. Knowledge of Collective Impact frameworks strongly preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to represent the organization and the work to community members, funders, policymakers, and the media.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools required; experience with Salesforce or other data systems preferred.
