The foster care events on June 20-21 sponsored by the Families & Foster Care Coalition and St. Alban's Episcopal Church, Waco, were a huge success.
"It was so encouraging to see the community turn out to learn more about foster care, the needs in our community, and how they can help," according to CASA of McLennan County.
At Prosper Waco, we are thrilled about the success of these two events. Last year, Mayor Dillon Meek asked PW to organize a coalition around the foster care issues. We did, and it became the Families & Foster Care Coalition.
We had a great initial response, with CASA's Anna Futral and PW's Ferrell Foster serving as co-chairs. Many others have been active on the steering committee and the broader coalition, and the events held in June are the most recent manifestation of this important work.
Great job, Anna and Andrea Zimmerman, in putting together these events. And thank you St. Alban's for hosting.
