UpSkill rolling with flexible approach

By Heaven Lee

UpSkill’s first “Construction Core” class graduated at the end of September. These individuals received their National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) Construction Core certification. We are super excited for these individuals and their new opportunities to come. This group is now looking forward to the “Industrial Maintenance” course in early January. In this specialty track, trainees learn how to repair and maintain electrical instruments and equipment, as well as install and dismantle them. We are anticipating our first “Medical Office Certification” course, which will be held Monday through Thursday from 5:45 to 8:45 p.m. The course is expected to begin in early November. It will cover customer service, medical terminology, business writing and grammar, scheduling, and computer skills. There will be an employment opportunity with Waco Family Medicine following completion of the course. In our first few months, UpSkill has learned that evening courses are more convenient for current participants, but we are flexible and willing to host day or evening courses depending on our students’ needs. Thank you to our higher-education partners, Texas State Technical College and McLennan Community College, for being flexible and working with us on this initiative. We are still actively recruiting and accepting applications for all courses. Anyone interested in applying or learning more about UpSkill Waco training can visit our website. If you see any way we can collaborate or would like to learn more please feel free to reach out. Also, like us on Facebook and follow us on Instagram!
