Free Summer Meals Help Keep Children Nourished While School Is Out

Summer can bring a welcome change of pace for families, but it can also create additional challenges when school meals are no longer available. Across McLennan County, free summer meal programs help ensure children and teens continue to have access to nutritious meals throughout the summer months.

Several local school districts are offering free breakfast and lunch at designated sites. These programs are available to children and teens ages 18 and under, with some locations also serving eligible individuals with disabilities up to age 21.

Summer meal programs play an important role in supporting food security for families. By providing free meals in accessible community locations, these programs help reduce barriers and ensure children have the nutrition they need to stay healthy, active and engaged while school is out.
