“Tiffiney Gray brings experience and leadership to advance health goals for our community,” said Prosper Waco CEO Suzii Paynter March. “Tiffiney will put her experience in medical research and community engagement to use with a national research team studying Waco and 14 other cities for behavioral health practices.”

Gray has a history of involvement in community, health, and education programs in her native Mississippi and in Wisconsin.

“I am pleased to be a part of the movement that Prosper Waco is driving,” Gray said. “The conversation about health is expanding and more people are now talking about the multitude of non-medical, social, and environmental factors that impact health and wellness.

“We have a collective responsibility as good neighbors to respond and to create the type of community where health is attainable for all. I see Prosper Waco as an ideal catalyzing organization to create spaces for dialogue and inspire accountable action,” said Gray.

She has a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary humanities from Tougaloo College, as well as two master’s degrees — one in economic development from the University of Southern Mississippi and the other in sociology from the University of Mississippi.

In her home state, Gray worked as a research and development officer at Jackson State University, where she designed and secured funding for programs supporting early childhood education, minority student retention and campus wellness. She was also director of The Salvation Army Corps Community Center in Jackson, a resource for children and families providing after-school enrichment and cultural programming.

In Wisconsin, her work at the Medical College of Wisconsin included involvement in three projects — Community Health Improvement for Milwaukee’s Children, Earlier Is Better and Milwaukee Prevention of Opioid Misuse through Peer Training. Also at MCW, Gray supported graduate student and medical resident learning as coordinator for the Community Pediatrics Training Initiative and the Community Health Improvement III Course in the Department of Family and Community Medicine.

Prosper Waco is a collective impact initiative focused on addressing issues facing the Greater Waco community in education, health and financial security. Prosper Waco encourages collaboration amongst nonprofits, city and county governments, businesses, foundations and churches to build on and increase the effectiveness of efforts and to develop new strategies to bring about measurable and sustainable positive change.
